University provides support for the treatment of erectile dysfunction
Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Sexual or erectile dysfunction (ED) is very common in men at some point of time in their life. ED is caused by vascular conditions in more than 80 percent of all cases. ED can be devastating to a man and his partner as it ends the sex life of a man and it is often linked to other life threatening problems like heart disease.

Physicians of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston are working to remove the stigma of ED and treat the problem through a new program called the UTMB Multidisciplinary Clinic for Sexual Health. The clinic provides a first-visit cardiac, cardiovascular and sexual dysfunction evaluation for high-risk patients with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure or other types of heart disease.

Each treatment plan in the clinic is designed specifically to treat the patient's combined needs for providing maximum benefit to them. This particular step taken by the university is going to benefit men's health and sexual life in totality.
