Erectile Dysfunction Goes Into Remission On its Own

Some men with erectile dysfunction (ED) may experience total remission, especially if it is mild, researchers reported at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association.

Dr. John B. McKinlay, PhD, senior vice president and chief scientist, New England Research Institutes, Watertown, Massachusetts, and colleagues said that remission of ED may be more common than previously believed and that even some men who report complete ED may experience full remission.

To examine the natural history of ED, Dr. McKinley and colleagues analyzed self-reports of ED in the prospective the Massachusetts Male Aging Study (MMAS) of 1002 community-dwelling men aged 40 to 70 years who resided in and around Boston.
