Bayer confident of Levitra Growth
May 24 2005
According to Werner Wenning, Chief Executive - Bayer,
a double-digit revenue growth is expected from its Levitra
impotence drug.
A new marketing strategy has been planned to make a positive
contribution to the earnings in the second half of 2006 and
to focus on U.S. sales.
"(With Levitra
Online) we have reached revenue of 200 million euros after
two years and we expect double-digit growth this year,"
Wenning said.
He informed that the revamped marketing campaign would focus
more strongly on Levitra's advantages of reliability and speed
of action, and did not rule out boosting the marketing budget.
Levitra is a rival to Pfizer Inc.'s best-seller Viagra but
it has been less successful than another Viagra follow-on,
Cialis, from Eli Lilly and Co and Icos Corp.
Wenning added, Bayer was well on track to meet its goal of
a core profit margin of 19 percent next year, up from 14 percent
last year.
