Smokers have a greater risk of erectile dysfunction
Wednesday, February 1, 2006
Smokers are at great risk of getting afflicted with erectile
dysfunction (ED). Men with high blood pressure who smoke
26 times are more likely to have ED or impotence as compared
to non-smokers, said Spangler, associate professor of family
and community medicine in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical
Center. Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, is the inability
of a man to achieve an erection required to perform sexual
intercourse.
Erectile
disfunction has become very commonplace and it affects
an estimated 30 million Americans. An increase rate of erectile
dysfunction occurs among men with hypertension who also currently
smoke, a rate that is also twice that of former smokers. The
more cigarettes smoked per day the greater the chance of impotence.
But the good news is that usage of ED pills such as Levitra
can provide relief from ED upto a great extent.
