| Sales of impotence pills are on
a decline Tuesday, December 6, 2005
A decline in the sale of impotence
drugs have been noticed as fewer men are willing to use
the medications as the often televised commercials for the
products have become less effective. Though the combined worldwide
sales of the three erectile dysfunction (ED)drugs - Viagra,
Cialis and Levitra has reached about US$2.5 billion ($3.5
billion) last year, the number of new prescriptions has declined
this year, including a 10 per cent drop in October.
About half of men over the age of 40 may have mild or occasional
impotence, yet only about 15 per cent of them get prescriptions
for Viagra, Cialis or Levitra in a given year. On the other
hand, the so-called recreational use of the drugs by younger
men has increased over the period of time. According to research,
the combined sales of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra amounted
to $2.5 billion ($3.5 billion) last year.
