Levitra- Even For the Weak Hearted
Thanks to Viagra, the word erectile dysfunction (E.D) is
no more unknown to the world. Viagra, produced by pharmaceutical
giant Pfizer revolutionized the treatment of male sexual dysfunction,
allowing men for the first time to pop a pill to get an erection
.That E.D. could be overcome was unbelievable to many, such
has been the fear of E.D. as cause for unsuccessful sexual
intercourse.
A patient is diagnosed with E.D. when he is occasionally
or repeatedly unable to achieve and maintain an erection firm
enough for sexual intercourse. Erection begins with sensory
or mental stimulation, or both. Impulses from the brain and
local nerves cause the muscles of the corpora cavernosa to
relax, allowing blood to flow in and fill the spaces.
Erectile dysfunction or impotence as a subject was a taboo
due to its embarrassing nature and the shame felt by sufferers.
The term came for open discussion with the introduction of
Viagra. In the 1990’s .Sildenafil (trade name –Viagra)
the effective remedy for impotence caused a wave of public
attention.
The causes for E.D. could be many; it could even be the result
of poor physical health and poor diet. It is mainly due to
physiological or psychological conditions. Although E.D. is
part of aging, and is more common in men older than 65 years,
but old men can still be able to get an erection and enjoy
sex, what is required is more stimulation, such as stoking
and touching.
With more than 30 million male patients affected by E.D.
in the United States alone, Viagra was godsend for many. Viagra
hit the shelves of medical stores in 1998 and enjoys great
popularity all over the world. The success of Viagra prompted
other Pharma companies to follow suit and the answer to Viagra
came in the form of Levitra,
a result of an alliance between Bayer and GlaxoSmithKline.
Levitra since it came later it is an improvement on Viagra.
While Viagra carries a warning for people with high blood
pressure who are taking particular types of blood pressure-lowering
medication Levitra has few side effects and is safe even for
those suffering with heart problems.
Viagra and Levitra both work by inhibiting the P
D E 5 enzyme. The side effects of Levitra are mild to
moderate headache, flushing, and nasal congestion -- "mild
stuff," says Irwin Goldstein, MD, director of the Institute
for Sexual Medicine at the Boston University Medical Center
and a leader of the Massachusetts Male Aging Study.
